Parkside Lounge New York New York US |
Very unique show for HINTS. Acoustic performances, guest musicians, multiple drummers, new songs. We were all over the place. But what a successful night!!! Crowd was absolutely buzzing and the Parkside Lounge's intimate set-up created an even greater energy.
Started out with some acoustic debuts of "I'm Not a Man" and "Wish Her the Best". Then had the privilege of covering Satellite's stunning "Turning On My Own". Finishing up the acoustic portion was Arielle who hopped on to do sing her rarity "Waiting".
Then the rock and roll took off, first with Mutt Reidler on drums. "Taken" took on a brand new edge and the debut of "Undertow" with JJ's beautiful lead work really stole the show!
The Bagles then joined for a block of "classic" Hints! "Dancing in the Dark" ended the main set as many in the crowd danced and hoped to be the night's Courtney Cox!
Finally an anthemic "Foothills". Mutt Reidler was back on drums, Sid Nachman holding down the bass, Arielle on vox and the dueling guitars of the legendary Marc Shulman and our savior JJ Birke! A spectacular end to a magical night!!!

Arielle led off a wonderful night with a beautiful set. Even had Hints come on and join her onstage for her last number. After a quick realignment, Hints were off and running. Benson pounding the drums on Burned to the Core, Jay Birke's brilliant lead on First Move. Sid Nachman came up to guest on a cover of While My Guitar and burned through a couple of solos. Sid would be back later in the set for some fun on One & Five and Bruce's Badlands. We whipped out a song Taken, which we had literally never played together before. I had only written it two nights before the show. It came out great and had people in the crowd dancing!!! Ray then took us into U2's first single Out of Control! PERFECT!
A rousing I Don't Know Higher Ground combo followed in which Jay and Ray did all the heavy lifting. One & Five bled effortlessly into Badlands with Benson bashing the cymbals and keeping the perfect feel of the song. We snuck in a fan favorite cover from the Killers, All These Things That I've Done. and were then rejoined on stage by Sid Nachman, Chris Botto, and the lovely Arielle for a wonderful version of Foothills! Thanks to all for providing an incredible level of energy and support. We hope to be out there again soon!

The Cutting Room New York NY USA |
We got off to a late start, but the room and the band were HOT!!!! Jay Birke on fire from the very beginning. Benson was pounding the drums so hard that a cymbal flew off the stand in the middle of a song. And as usual Ray held down the fort. Cutting Room is just an unbelievable venue, a great sounding room and we truly thank everyone who came to help fill it and Steve Walter for hosting us.

The Bitter End New York NY USA |
So, we unleashed a couple of new tunes to a great crowd at The Bitter End on Tuesday, "Burned to the Core" and "Looking for a Reason." The Bitter End was actually more reminiscent of Cheers, as Ted Danson and George Wendt, (Sam Malone and Norm Peterson) showed up at the end of our set. Anyways, it was a great, although short set for us. We hope that you enjoyed and thank you all for your support.
